Sashco Capture®

Water-Based Semi-Transparent Interior & Exterior With Colorfast® Base Coat

The gold standard for Montana log homes.

Sashco Capture is the most widely trusted water-based log stain in the industry- formulated specifically for the demands of log and timber homes. Its elastic formula moves with your logs through seasonal expansion and contraction, resisting the cracks and peeling that compromise lesser stains. Loaded with the highest-quality UV inhibitors and trans-oxide pigments, Capture protects the wood while letting every knot, grain, and check show through. Applied over Colorfast® Pre-Stain Base Coat, the system delivers even color across blasted, rough-sawn, and knotty-pine logs with outstanding longevity. Finished with CascadeR Clear Topcoat, maintenance is simple - reapply the clear coat as needed without disturbing the stain beneath.

Four Things That Shape the Right Color for Your Home

Your Wood Species

Pine absorbs more stain and reads lighter than cedar. Cedar's natural redness pushes reds and golds warmer than they appear on a chip. Douglas fir's pronounced grain adds depth to any tone. The right color for your home depends on what it's being applied to.

Your Exposure

South and west walls receive far more UV than north and east walls. The color and finish system you choose for these high-exposure faces matters and annual maintenance keeps your protection intact regardless of which color you select.

Your Elevation

Montana properties above 5,000 feet receive significantly more UV radiation than valley-floor homes. The finish system for a Shields Valley or Paradise Valley property needs to account for this - it's one of the reasons UV Boost is standard on high-altitude applications.

Sample on Your Actual Logs

Every manufacturer in this book offers stain samples. The same color looks different on different species, textures, and ages of wood. The only way to know what a color will look like on your home is to see it on your home. We can arrange sample application during a site visit.
